I am a male descendant of a lineage that has produced an unbroken line of male heirs for at least 400 years and probably longer. This lineage of male French Regnaults, French-Canadien Renauds, and American Renos is what I call “La Ligne,” or the “the Line.” Beginning in Normandy France (Saint-Jouin-sur-Mer) in the 16th Century, my research follows the mid-17th Century migration of Guillaume Regnault to Québec and his descendants’ subsequent migration to Ontario (River Canard) and concludes with the migration of my grandfather Théophile Renaud’s (Tuffield Reno) arrival in the Detroit area. Along the way I will explore my Polish and Ukrainian heritage as well as general topics in genealogy and family history.
